BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron fell to the defending NBA G League champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 132-105, Tuesday night at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.
Daeqwon Plowden's 24 points off the bench paced Birmingham (1-10) and two-way guard Dereon Seabron pitched in 17. Zylan Cheatham led the Squadron in rebounding with 11 boards.
Darius Days scored 29 points for Rio Grande Valley (3-7), along with 10 rebounds for a double-double. Trevor Hudgins threw in 22 points and was responsible for seven assists. Cassius Stanley led the Viper reserves with 23 points.
The Vipers outscored the Squadron in the paint 68-36 and 18-6 in second chance points. Rio Grande Valley led by as many as 38 in the contest.
Birmingham now turns to Saturday's matchup with the first-place Stockton Kings at Legacy Arena at the BJCC. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Legacy Arena at the BJCC and the game can be seen locally on My68 WABM or nationally on NBAGLeague.com.
