Salt Lake City Stars News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, announced today that the team will wear hardwood classic uniforms during their game on Jan. 19 at Vivint Arena, as part of "Utah Stars Night presented by Vivint" to recognize the former ABA champions. The Stars will face-off against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Thursday with a 7 p.m. tip-off and will host a Junior Jazz activation night. The first 500 fans to arrive for Thursday's game will receive a free t-shirt.

The Stars will unveil their new throwback uniforms, inspired by the Utah Stars' jerseys from the 1970s, to pay homage to Utah's first professional basketball franchise (1970-1975) which won the 1971 ABA Championship. The Stars will wear their throwback jerseys for the two games on Jan. 19 and Jan. 21, before being auctioned off.

"The Utah Stars laid the foundation for Utah's basketball identity. For the second year in a row, we will pay homage to the great teams and players from that Utah Stars era." said Salt Lake City Stars president Jonathan Rinehart, "Our uniforms for these two games will honor and represent the team that started it all, and call attention to the achievements of those original Utah Stars, whose players included greats like Ron Boone, Moses Malone, and Zelmo Beaty."

Former Utah Jazz guard, longtime Jazz broadcaster, and 1971 ABA Utah Stars Champion, Ron Boone will be in attendance to sign autographs prior to the start of Thursday's game.

For the Jan. 19 matchup presented by Vivint, the Stars will partner with the Junior Jazz to host a fun and interactive game-night experience offered to the thousands of Junior Jazz members across the state.

The Junior Jazz will have several exciting activities prior to, and during the game, as they offer face-painting, balloon artists, bounce-houses, a scavenger hunt, giveaways, and more for all those in attendance. The Stars will offer an exclusive post game autograph session with the team. Buster Bear, the Stars mascot will be on hand as well.

Parking for the game will be available in the Park Place lot located adjacent to Vivint Arena on the corner of 300 West and South Temple.
