The Sioux Falls Skyforce hosts the Lakeland Magic for just the second time in franchise history on Tuesday and Thursday, as both games (6:30 PM CST) loom pivotal for momentum as the month of January starts to wind down.
The series marks the first time the two organizations will play since 11/6/17, when Lakeland defeated Sioux Falls 108-100. Torrey Craig and Erik McCree combined for 31 points in the loss.
The Force is coming off a tough 126-123 defeat in the organization's first final target score overtime period to Raptors 905 on Sunday afternoon. Sioux Falls shot just 2-5 FTA in the period, as Raptors 905 player David Johnson (11 points on 5-8 FGA) sunk a three pointer from the top of the key at 123-123 apiece to secure the third victory in the last four for Raptors 905.
Mychal Mulder (25 points on 8-18 FGA and six rebounds) and Jamaree Bouyea (25 points on 11-20 FGA, six assists and four rebounds) led the Skyforce in the loss.
The Magic comes into the series winners of four of their last five. The latter being a 117-100 victory over the Greensboro Swarm, as Kevon Harris had 24 points.
Lakeland recently added Orlando Magic assignee and sixth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft Jonathan Isaac, who is rehabbing an injury he had in the 2020 NBA Bubble in Orlando. The team also added 2022 NBA second round draft pick Caleb Houstan ahead of the two-game series with the Force.
Both teams will meet again on Thursday night at the Sanford Pentagon. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 PM CST.
