Winnipeg Defeats Explorers 3-1

Winnipeg, MB-----The Winnipeg Goldeyes rallied to score two runs in the seventh and one run in the eighth to defeat the Sioux City Explorers here Tuesday 3-1.

After a scoreless four innings, the Explorers took the lead 1-0 in the fifth when Anthony Kaskadden singled with two outs to score Sam Judah from second base. The Explorers would hold on to that lead until Winnipeg scored their two runs in the seventh.

The Explorers had seven hits, all singles and left seven runners on base in the loss in the first game of the three-game series with Winnipeg.

The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Goldeyes who have won three of the for games between the two teams this season.

Ryan Lucero may have had his best outing of the season, pitching six inning and giving up two runs, but took the loss dropping his record to 1-3.

The second game of the series will be played Wednesday at Shaw Park with game time set for 7:05pm.
