Winnipeg Rallies To Defeat Explorers 5-4

Winnipeg, MB-----Winnipeg rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Explorers here Wednesday 5-4.

A two-out double by Goldeyes Amos Ramon scored Tyler Graham with the winning run as Winnipeg has won the first two games of the series.

The Explorers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Austin Gallagher had a two-run double followed by a run-scoring double by Bryan Pounds.

Winnipeg scored a run in the third inning, but the Explorers scored a run in the top of the fourth on a sacrifice fly RBI by Anthony Kaskadden that gave the X's a 4-1 lead. That would be the final run the Explorers would score.

Winnipeg scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings to cut the Explorers lead to 4-3.

In the ninth, Fehlandt Lentini led off the inning with a double. Explorers relief pitcher Jimmer Kennedy retired the next two batters, but with two outs Tyler Graham singled to score Lentini to tie the game at 4-4. Ramon then followed with the game winning double to score Graham as Kennedy took the loss.

Kaskadden, Sam Judah and Gallagher all had two hits each for the Explorers in a losing effort.

Andy Noga pitched seven innings and left with the lead, but ended the game with a no-decision.

The final game of the three game series at Winnipeg will be played Thursday with game time set for 7:05pm.
