Kansas City Monarchs News Release
GARY, Ind. - The Kansas City T-Bones took the lead twice Wednesday night but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead, as Gary SouthShore beat the T-Bones, 9-4, at U.S. Steel Yard.
The T-Bones trailed 1-0 after the second inning when Nick Liles drove in Ryan Brockett on an RBI single.
But Kansas City took the lead in the fourth inning on a two-run single from Petey Paramore that scored Justin Bass and Jairo Perez. Paramore ended the night perfect from the plate, two for two with a double, two walks and two RBIs.
The T-Bones allowed two runs in the bottom of the fourth, but came right back with another two-run fifth inning when Kennard Jones tripled and scored Luis Rivera, and then scored on a single by Bass. That gave Kansas City a 4-3 lead; its last in the game.
The RailCats scored six runs in three of the final four innings against the Kansas City bullpen. After T-Bones starting pitcher Ethan Cole left after only 3 2/3 innings, five relief pitchers, including Josh Hildebrand (1-2), allowed eight hits and walked five.
The T-Bones complete their current roadtrip with a 3-3 record. The club is off Thursday before beginning a six-game homestand with three against Fargo-Moorhead starting Friday night at 7:05. Tickets are available by calling the Providence Medical Center Box Office at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at 913-328-5618 or at tbonesbaseball.com.
