
Wings West to Host ACHA Women's National Championships

Kalamazoo, MI- Wings West announces the facility will host the American Collegiate Hockey Association Women's Division I and II National Championship from Thursday, March 10th-Sunday, March 13th.
The Division I championships will have a local feel, as the University of Michigan, Michigan State and Grand Valley State University will all converge at Wings West. Joining the local favorites will be Robert Morris University (IL), Lindenwood University (MO), University of Massachusetts and the University of Connecticut.
Competing for the title in Division II, will be Rainy River Community College (MN), West Chester University (PA), University of Minnesota-Duluth, University of Delaware, Rhode Island College and South Dakota State University.
Tickets for the event are $30 for the full event, $10 for the day and kids two and under are FREE.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the ACHA began as a men's collegiate hockey organization for the 1991-1992 season. The ACHA currently boasts five divisions (Men's Division 1, 2, and 3; Women's Division 1 and 2) with over 420 teams from across the nation representing 49 different states, all but Hawaii.
The function of the ACHA is to support quality, unity and regulation of intercollegiate hockey programs in the United States. In order to do this, the ACHA has developed Organizational By-Laws and a Policies and Procedures Manual to provide the policy foundation for the organization as it works to fulfill its purpose.
Wings West, which is located on Sports Drive just off I-94 and 9th Street, is also home to Old Burdick's Wings West.
Stadium Management Company owns the Wings Stadium Complex, the Kalamazoo Wings hockey team and now Wings West. The Wings Stadium Complex is comprised of three buildings; Wings Stadium seats more than 5,100 fans for K-Wings home games and more than 8,000 people for concerts and other stage events. The Annex seats 1,367 for ice events and can seat up to 2,850 for non-ice events such as car, boat, and trade shows. The Cube is the newer of the three facilities and plays host to both ice and non-ice events. All three buildings along with the newly acquired and named Wings West facility are available for rental and feature numerous catering and meeting opportunities.
