Alaska's Langkow Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. ‚¬" Alaska Aces center Chris Langkow is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Rookie of the Month for February.

The 21 year old scored six goals and added 10 assists for 16 points, and was a +9 in 13 games in February as the Aces went 9-3-1. Langkow had four multi-point games in February and tallied at least one point in eight of 13 games during the month.

Langkow had four separate three-point games during the month. He scored a goal and added two assists in a 5-2 win against Stockton on ‚¬Ë†Feb. 11 and in a 4-3 victory over Las Vegas on Feb. 24, tallied three assists in a 6-5 shootout win at Idaho on ‚¬Ë†Feb. 19 and notched his first professional hat trick in a 4-3 overtime win against Las Vegas on ‚¬Ë†Feb. 25.

A native of Vegreville, ‚¬Ë†Alberta, Langkow has 36 points (15g-21) and is second on the Aces with a +11 in 53 games this season. He represented Alaska at the 2011 ECHL ‚¬Ë†All-Star Classic in Bakersfield and scored two goals in the ECHL ‚¬Ë†All-Stars 9-3 win over the Condors.

Prior to turning pro, Langkow scored 154 points (53g-101a) in 263 Western ‚¬Ë†Hockey League games with Spokane, ‚¬Ë†Saskatoon and ‚¬Ë†Everett.

Runners Up: Joel Broda, Bakersfield (12 gp, 11g, 3a, 14 pts.), Justin ‚¬Ë†Taylor, Kalamazoo (13 gp, 7g, 8a, 15 pts.) and Shane Owen, South ‚¬Ë†Carolina (6-1-2, 2.62 GAA, .907 save pct.).

Also Nominated: Eric Lampe (Elmira), Matt Beca (Florida), Geoff Irwin (Idaho), Ryan Donald (Reading), Andy Bohmbach (Toledo) and Kevin Deeth (Utah).
