Rochester Red Wings News Release

Tyler Eppler got only one out and the Red Wings were forced to throw position players for the final four innings in a 13-8 loss to the Syracuse Mets Friday night at NBT Bank Ballpark.

The Mets have now 11 of 16 games against the Wings in 2021 and have scored 56 runs over the first five games of the series.

After the Wings (26-37) scored two runs in the top of the fifth inning to trim the deficit to just three runs, Rochester was forced to use infielder Brandon Snyder on the mound. Syracuse would hit three home runs and score five runs in the fifth off Snyder to put the game out of reach.

Rochester drew two bases loaded walks in the first inning off former Wing Vance Worley to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Mets answered with six runs in the first off Eppler.

Jake Noll had four hits - including two home runs in the loss.

Snyder and Ali Castillo did combine to throw scoreless innings in the sixth, seventh and eighth frames.
