December 12, 2008 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Philadelphia Wings News Release

The Philadelphia Wings have selected Forward Mat Giles with their pick (eighth overall) in the National Lacrosse League Dispersal Draft today.

Giles will be entering his eleventh season in the NLL in 2009. Last season he recorded 50 points (27G 23A) which was second on the team; he led the Shamrox in goals scored. Giles, who served as Chicago's captain, also picked up 71 loose balls in 2008.

"Mat is a big strong right hander that brings a lot of league experience to our team and fills a big void we had on right side," said Wings General Manager Lindsay Sanderson. "He will bring leadership all other good things associated with his league experience. We are excited to have him with us."

Schedule changes for the 2009 season have also been announced by the NLL. All dates and times for Wings home games will remain as originally scheduled. The Minnesota Swarm will now travel to the Wachovia Center instead of Chicago on Saturday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m.
