Portland Acquires Leveille in Dispersal Draft

PORTLAND, December 12, 2008 -The Portland LumberJax announced today the acquisition of Kevin Leveille by selecting him in the First Round (11th Overall) of today's National Lacrosse League Dispersal Draft. Leveille played in six games last season for the Chicago Shamrox, recording five goals, nine assists, and scooping up twenty-five loose balls

Leveille, originally from Delmar, New York, now residing in Chicago, Illinois, played college lacrosse at the University of Massachusetts. During his senior season Leveille was named ECAC Preseason Player of the Year and an All-American, having scored 34 goals and 17 assists. He was also named one of sixteen finalists for the Tewaarton Trophy, awarded to the top collegeliate lacrosse player in the country. Leveille ended his UMass career with 159 points, ranking 11th on the UMass all-time scoring list.

During the summer Leveille plays attack for the Chicago Machine of Major League Lacrosse. His outdoor career has seen him elected to the MLL All-Star Game in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. During the 2004 season, his second in the MLL, Leveille was named the MLL's Most Improved Player, and earned the 11th Man Award as a member of the Boston Cannons. In the MLL he currently sits tied for most goals scored in a game with 9. Statistically his best season came in 2005 when he scored a goal in every game, securing professional career highs in goals (39), assists (12) and points (51).
