
Minnesota Swarm Announces Revised 2009 NLL Schedule, Selects Two Players in Dispersal Draft

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Minnesota Swarm, in conjunction with the National Lacrosse League (NLL), released a revised schedule for the 2009 season today. Minnesota will open the 2009 season, its fifth in the NLL, on the road against the Portland LumberJax on January 3. The Swarm will now host the San Jose Stealth in its home opener on January 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Xcel Energy Center and finish the season with four consecutive home games.

The Swarm selected D Kevin Fines with the 10th pick and D Drew Candy with the 20th pick in the Chicago Dispersal Draft.
Candy, 29 (5/3/79), recorded two assists, 20 loose balls and 50 PIM in nine games with the Shamrox last season. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound native of London, Ontario has tallied 14 points (4-10=14), 120 loose balls and 246 PIM in 54 career NLL contests during six seasons with Chicago, Buffalo, Philadelphia and Toronto.
Fines, 27 (1/26/81), notched 14 points (6-8=14) including two power play goals, 18 penalty minutes (PIM) and 70 loose balls in 16 games with Chicago in 2008. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound native of Holland Landing, Ontario also won 62 of 147 face-offs taken. He has collected 82 points (47-35=82), 77 PIM and 174 loose balls in 58 matches during four NLL seasons with Chicago, Toronto and San Jose.
