Windy City Breezes by Westchester, Simonović Notches Double-Double
February 8, 2022 - NBA G League (G League)
Windy City Bulls News Release
The Windy City Bulls ran past the Westchester Knicks 107-90 on the road Friday night. Chicago Bulls Assignment center Marko Simonović submitted a monster double-double with 24 points and 22 rebounds - just the second 20-point and 20-rebound double-double in the NBA G League this season.
The Bulls were in control for most of the game, leading by as much as 26 while Westchester's largest lead was two points and came early in the first period.
Windy City held a narrow 27-23 lead over Westchester after the opening period, but a stifling Bulls defense in the second quarter widened their lead. Westchester mustered just 11 points in the second quarter, while the Bulls put up 19 to take a 12-point lead into the break.
Both teams came out of halftime hot offensively. Led by nine third-quarter points from Kerwin Roach II, the Bulls outscored the Knicks 36-31 in the period to take a comfortable 17-point advantage into the final 12 minutes. Each team scored 25 points in the fourth quarter as Windy City coasted to the victory.
Roach II finished with 22 points on 8-for-13 shooting and six rebounds. Windy City's Ethan Thompson chipped in 15 points, while Daniel Oturu added 14. Henri Drell came off the bench for the Bulls to score 12 points.
Westchester was led by Dewan Hernandez's 18 points and 10 rebounds.
With the win, the Bulls improved to 6-7 in the regular season, while the Knicks dropped to 4-7.
Windy City and Westchester are scheduled to square off again Sunday, Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on NBAGLeague.com.
