SUPER SABEN: Detroit Pistons assignee Saben Lee was named the NBA G League Player of the Week for games played Monday, Jan. 31 through Sunday, Feb. 6.
The second-year guard from Vanderbilt led the Motor City Cruise to a 3-0 week by averaging 31.0 points, 8.0 assists and 5.7 rebounds. This is Lee's second Player of the Week honor for the 2021-22 season (Nov. 5 -14).
GOLD RUSH: With two wins last week, the Grand Rapids Gold extended its winning streak to six games and continues to be near the top of Eastern Conference standings. Forward Matt Ryan is having a strong season, averaging 21.3 points and shooting 39.8 percent from three-point range. Ryan and the Gold will host the Capital City Go-Go on Friday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. ET on NBAGLeague.com.
CALIFORNIA THRILLER: On Feb. 6, the South Bay Lakers defeated the Santa Cruz Warriors 112-110 in an exciting game that featured 15 lead changes and 11 ties. Lakers forward Paris Bass slammed home the game-winning dunk with 1.8 seconds remaining and guard Mac McClung had a career-high 37 points.
Golden State Warriors two-way guard Quinndary Weatherspoon led the Warriors with 33 points and six rebounds. The two teams will meet again when Santa Cruz visits South Bay on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Toronto Raptors guard Gary Trent Jr. is having the best season of his young career. Trent Jr. is averaging career highs in points (18.3) and three-point shooting percentage (40.1). He also ranks fourth in the NBA in steals per game (1.8). The former second-round pick out of Duke scored 30-plus points in a career-best five straight games (Jan.
25 - Feb. 1). During the 2018-19 season, he appeared in six games for the Texas Legends and averaged 33.3 points and 5.5 rebounds. Along with strong play from fellow NBA G League alums Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam, the Raptors are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
On Feb. 1, New York Knicks assignee Miles McBride recorded a near triple-double with 40 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds for West- chester in a 117-107 victory over the Delaware Blue Coats.
Sioux Falls Skyforce guard Javonte Smart registered 36 points, eight rebounds and five assists in a 116-109 win over the Agua Caliente Clippers on Feb. 3.
Salt Lake City Stars guard Rayvonte Rice scored 40 points in a 117-116 victory over the South Bay Lakers on Feb. 4.
On Feb. 6, Memphis Hustle guard Shaq Buchanan tallied 40 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists in a 110-97 victory over the Texas Legends.
