Blue Coats Travel to Fort Wayne to Take on Mad Ants

February 8, 2022 - NBA G League (G League)
Delaware Blue Coats News Release

Two of the top teams in a competitive Eastern Conference, the Delaware Blue Coats (7-4) and Fort Wayne Mad Ants (5-7) square up for an early afternoon matchup today, meeting for the first time in the 2021-2022 regular season.

The Coats and Mad Ants last met back on December 19th, 2021 in the first round of the G League Showcase Cup, with Delaware winning convincingly, 126-101, on their way to take home the Showcase Championship.

Both squads are coming into the game fresh off of two victories last week, with the Mad Ants defeating both the Capital City Go-Go and Wisconsin Herd, and the Blue Coats taking down the Greensboro Swarm at Chase Fieldhouse and Raptors 905 on the road.

The key matchup of the day will be a battle in the backcourt between Mad Ants' Justin Anderson and the Blue Coats' Shaquille Harrison. Anderson, a former member of the Blue Coats' NBA affiliate, the Philadelphia 76ers, has been a standout guard for the Mad Ants this season, starting in ten games for Fort Wayne and averaging 22.5 points.

Anderson will have a tall task on Tuesday against Shaquille Harrison, who has been a force in Delaware and already been rewarded with three ten-day NBA contracts this season. On offense, he glues the Blue Coats together with 14 points and 5.5 assists per game. Harrison has also been a force on the defensive side of the ball, averaging 2.5 steals per game, fifth-best in the league.

Both Harrison and Anderson will be looking to extend their team's current winning stretch to 3-0. The game will be streaming on NBAGLeague.com with tipoff scheduled for noon.
