Westchester Knicks News Release
BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, prevailed over the Lakeland Magic, 114-105, Monday night at Webster Bank Arena.
Following his 31-point outing last night, Brandon Williams (tryout) stuffed the stat sheet again for the Knicks (6-7) dropping another 31 points on 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the arc, dishing 10 assists to tie his career-high, and collecting four rebounds. MJ Walker (Affiliate) tied his career-high with five triples made (71.4 3PT%) en route to 19 points on the night. With his seventh double-double of the season, Dewan Hernandez (returning rights) came down with a career-high 16 rebounds in tandem with 19 points. Aamir Simms (Affiliate) chipped in with 13 points as well.
Lakeland (4-10) was led by Jeff Dowtin's 25 points, and TJ Haws and Jeremiah Tilmon scoring 21 points apiece.
Williams carried last night's momentum this evening in scoring the game's opening basket. After a slow start, the home team went on a 13-2 run from the 6:20 mark of the opening period to take a favorable 27-16 lead after the first 12 minutes.
The Magic cut the deficit to three, 35-32, with 6:33 to go in the second, but the Knicks refused to part with the lead, responding with a powerful 15-4 barrage to push the score to 50-36 with 3:25 to play in the half. The hosts took a 54-42 advantage heading to the locker room.
After the break, Westchester continued to mount its lead, opening up an 18-point lead, 66-48, with 8:46 on the clock. Nearly two minutes later, the score ballooned to 75-54 at the 6:41 mark, and the advantage hovered around 20 for the rest of the frame. The home team led 92-72 after three.
In the final frame, the Knicks led by as many as 28 points, 114-86, with 5:39 remaining in regulation. The game's final 19 points belonged to Lakeland, but the output failed to supersede the lead it suffered from.
The Knicks will travel to College Park to take on the Skyhawks on Thursday, February 10, at 11 AM ET.
