June 25, 2021 - Texas League (TL)
Midland RockHounds News Release
The Wichita Wind Surge did exactly that ... surge.
Trailing, 4-0, Wichita tied the game with a four-run fifth inning and took control with a four-run sixth to claim their third straight win in the (six-game series), 8-6, Thursday night at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
Doubles by JJ Schwarz and Jeremy Eierman (RBI) in the second inning produced the game's first run and RBI from Kyle McCann (single) and Mickey McDonald (double) pushed the lead to 3-0. Nick Allen (see "Kibbles & Bits," below) led off the third with the first of his two home runs on the night, a solo drive over the left field wall.
The 'Hounds threatened to expand the early lead twice, but a double play with two men on base ended the third and reliever Ryan Mason shut down a two-on, out-out threat in the last of the fourth to keep the score 4-0.
Wichita then batted around in the fifth and sixth, scoring four times in each frame to take an 8-4 lead. Aaron Whitefield drove in three of the runs with a fielder's choice ribbie in the fifth and a two-run single in the sixth.
The teams played a LOT of baseball Thursday night - - the game produced 14 runs, 25 hits, and 26 strikeouts.

Wichita's Jose Miranda, who had a four-hit game in Tuesday's series opener, had a FIVE-hit night on Thursday. The Double-A Central's leading hitter had four singles and a double, pushing his season average to league-leading .348.
Nick Allen extended his hit streak to 10 games, going 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs (one solo and one in the ninth inning with a man on). Nick is hitting .354 in the 10-gamer and .316 for the season (top five in the league). And ... he loves Rocky Town! Nick is now 20-for-36 (.556) in nine games at Momentum Bank Ballpark.
