Midland RockHounds News Release

If he keep this up, we may have to rename the baseball stadium "Nick Allen Field at Momentum Bank Ballpark."

The RockHounds shortstop went 3-for-5, scored two runs, and drove in the game-winner with a tie-breaking single (on an 0-2 pitch) in the last of the eighth inning as the 'Hounds defeated the North Division-leading Wichita Wind Surge, 4-3, Friday night.

In 10 games at "Rocky Town," the US Olympic Team member is hitting .561 (23-for-41).

The game was a one-run contest throughout with the Wind Surge taking a 1-0 lead on Wilbis Santiago's third-inning RBI double.

Back-to-back singles from Allen and Logan Davidson led to the tying run in the last of the third and Davidson started a go-ahead rally with a single in the fifth. Jhonny Santos and Kyle McCann (RBI) followed with singles to give the 'Hounds a 2-1 lead.

Wichita tied the game twice more with single runs in the seventh and eighth, the first of those rallies starting on Santiago's perfect two-out, bases-empty bunt single.

The RockHounds answered both Wichita rallies. Back-to-back singles, again, from Allen and Davidson set the table in the seventh, with the run scoring on a Wind Surge error.

In the eighth, Devin Foyle drew just the second walk offered this season by Wichita reliever Zachary Neff, and Mickey McDonald was hit by a pitch. Allen then fell behind, 0-2, before lining the go-ahead single to left, scoring Foyle.

Aaron Brown tossed a 1-2-3 ninth (no easy task on a night in which the teams combined for 22 hits) for this third save.

The RockHounds snapped a mini-slide after the Wind Surge had taken the first three games of the series.

Kibbles & Bits

Logan Davidson collected his second three-hit game of the season and went 5-for-9, combined, Thursday and Friday.

He didn't figure in the decision, but Kyle Friedrichs turned in his best performance of the season. The right-hander, a member of the RockHounds' 2017 Texas League championship club (the team that completed the Four-Peat) allowed one run on five hits over five innings, walking one batter and striking out four.
