The game was tied entering the ninth when Springfield took the lead in the top half of the inning. Delvin Perez's one-out triple off the glove of left fielder Carlos Rincon scored Nick Plummer to put the Cardinals in front 4-3.

Rincon promptly made up for not catching Perez's liner when he led off the bottom of the ninth with a 453-foot blast that landed near the top of the grass berm in left-center field. It was Rincon's second homer of the game and his ninth of the season and sent the two teams into extra innings.

Drillers reliever Mark Washington kept the Redbirds from scoring in the top of the tenth, setting up Tulsa's walk-off win in the bottom of the frame.

With placed runner Stevie Berman at second, the inning's

leadoff batter, Donovan Casey, was struck in the batting helmet with a pitch. A wild pitch moved the runners to second and third. After Michael Busch struck out, Ryan Noda lofted a fly ball to medium-depth right field. Berman tagged on the play and just slid home safely ahead of a strong throw from right fielder Alec Burleson to give Tulsa the win.

With the victory, the Drillers improved their record in extra innings this season to 4-3.

Tulsa was in position for the extra-inning win thanks in part to a strong outing from starting pitcher Bryan Brickhouse. It was the first start since the 2015 season for Brickhouse and he took advantage of the opportunity by allowing only two hits in 3.1 shutout innings.

Casey opened the scoring in the third after he was hit by a pitch for the first time. Casey stole second, moved to third on a ground out and scored when Jacob Amaya hit a hard liner that deflected off the pitcher.

The Cardinals bounced back to take the lead in the fifth. Brendan Donovan led off the inning with a double and Justin Toerner followed with a home run that gave Springfield a 2-1 lead.

In the next half inning, Casey tied the game with his fourth homer of the year. Two outs later, Rincon hit his first home run of the night to put Tulsa back on top 3-2.

Springfield scored a run to tie the game in the sixth, but the Drillers were happy to escape with just the one run. The first three batters in the inning reached base safely to load the bases with no outs. Bryan Warzek was summoned from the bullpen and got a strikeout before walking in the tying run. Warzek recovered to retire the next two batters and keep the game tied until the teams traded runs in the ninth.
