Win Streak Snapped in 10-6 Loss to Goldeyes

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones (27-17) snapped a six-game winning streak Monday night, falling to the Winnipeg Goldeyes (25-19), 10-6, at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

In front of 3,183 fans, the Goldeyes jumped on Kansas City starter Cody McAllister (4-3) in the second inning, plating three runs, highlighted by a Price Kendall two-run home run. The T-Bones answered in the bottom half of the inning when Jim Fasano hit a home run off Winnipeg starter Stephen Flake. Two RBI fielder's choices and an error added three more, giving the T-Bones a 4-3 advantage.

The Goldeyes took a 6-4 lead in the top of the fourth when Wes Long hit a three-run home run. McAllister exited with two outs in the inning, giving way to Kyle Heim. McAllister surrendered six runs, three earned, on seven hits over three and two-thirds innings in the loss.

Ray Sadler walked to start the frame, and after stealing second and third, he scored on a throwing error. Flake was charged with Sadler's run, and departed with one out in the inning. Ian Thomas (5-1) came out of the bullpen and worked the next inning and two-thirds, allowing just one walk and striking out one for the win.

Winnipeg broke the game open in the sixth using three extra-base hits to plate four runs, highlighted by a two-run triple by Justin Justice, giving the Goldeyes a 10-5 lead. Heim faced the first four batters of the inning and was pulled in favor of David Parker. Heim gave up four runs on four hits and one walk in one and one-thirds innings.

In the eighth, Brett Davis took over for Parker, who surrendered just one hit and one walk in two innings. Davis threw two scoreless innings to finish the game.

Ryan Fox drove in the final run with a single in the ninth, capping the scoring at 10-6. Bobby Korecky entered with two on and two out in the ninth and induced a groundout to earn his sixth save of the season.

Kansas City will look to rebound Tuesday night in game two against Winnipeg. Right-hander Steven Stewart (4-1, 3.09 ERA) takes the mound opposite Goldeyes left-hander Chris Salamida (6-2, 3.84 ERA).
