Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, CA - There's at least one Fresno Grizzlies player who has been eating his Wheaties lately, and his name is Luis Figueroa. In big part to Figueroa's bat, the Grizzlies took care of the New Orleans Zephyrs for the third consecutive time this series, winning 2-1.

Early on in the game, it looked as though the 6,580 Grizzlies (61-57) fans would be in for a high-scoring game, as the two teams combined for three runs in the first inning alone. All three of the RBIs were courtesy of home runs, starting with the Zephyrs' (62-55) Fernando Tatis, who hit a solo home run in the top of the first.

However, Luis Figueroa's two-run home run in the bottom half of the first, his second in two games and third this season, would prove to be all of the run support Fresno would need in the game.

Fresno's Sun-Woo Kim (4-7) earned his fourth win of the season after throwing seven innings of six-hit ball, including six consecutive shut out innings.

In consecutive nights, the Grizzlies have defeated two of the Mets' top pitching prospects in Philip Humber and Mike Pelfrey. Fresno has now won three games in a row and improves to four games over .500.

The Grizzlies will send Matt Kinney to mound against New Orleans starter Jason Vargas, where the Grizzlies will have a chance for a sweep and fourth straight win against New Orleans.

Tomorrow's homestand finale will feature all-you-can-eat free ice cream for fans. The Fresno Bee's Season Ten Special will offer kids 12 and under, seniors 55 and over, and military personnel with valid ID tickets for just $1. Just 9 home games remain in the Grizzlies 2007 season.

Tickets are available at the Chukchansi Park ticket office, over the phone at 559-320-TIXS, or online at www.fresnogrizzlies.com.
