Omaha, NE - Mike Aviles hit a two run homer and Craig Brazell launched a three run shot as the Omaha Royals beat the Sidewinders 5-2 on Tuesday night.
Casey Daigle allowed both home runs and took the loss, his first as a starter and his first on the road this season. Daigle (9-3) worked five innings and allowed five runs on eight hits.
Tucson managed just five hits against the Royals threesome of Matt Wright, Roberto Giron and Neal Musser. Wright worked the first 6 2/3 for the win and Musser, the former Sidewinder, pitched the ninth for the save.
Matt Erickson had two of Tucson's five hits to extend his hitting streak to 12. Jeff Salazar and Jared Ball provided the RBI. Salazar had a single to drive home Tucson's first run in the third and Ball delivered a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
The Sidewinders and Royals wrap up their four game series on Wednesday afternoon at Rosenblatt Stadium. Right-hander Yusmeiro Petit (7-4, 4.09) starts for Tucson against right-hander Billy Buckner (8-6, 4.07) for Omaha. First pitch is at 10:05 am Tucson time. The game will air LIVE on the internet at www.tucsonsidewinders.com and on a tape delayed basis at 6:00 pm on COOL 1450.
