LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced that all of their minor league affiliates will wear a patch on the sleeve of their uniforms to honor the late Bill Robinson, who passed away on July 29 at the age of 64.

"This is a gesture of recognition for the body of work that Bill has accomplished in the game of baseball and with the Dodger organization, as well as a sign of respect to the man and his family," said Dodger Director, Player Development DeJon Watson.

The four-inch black patch will have the letters "B" and "R" written in white on the sleeves of all home and road uniforms for each Dodger minor league farm team. Additionally, the patch will be on the uniforms for the Dodgers' upcoming 2007 Instructional league.

Robinson was in his second season as the Dodgers' Minor League hitting coordinator following four years as a member of the Florida Marlins coaching staff, where he was the hitting coach for the 2003 World Championship team. He also served in that role for the New York Mets from 1984-89, which included their 1986 World Championship.

The Pennsylvania native was survived by his wife, Mary Alice, two children, William III and Kelley Ann and three grandchildren, Bret, Ty and Will.
