Clinton, IA - The Clinton LumberKings (30-33) snapped their season-high six-game losing streak and continued to give the Burlington Bees (34-30) fits Tuesday night at Ashford University Field. The L'Kings' win was their sixth in seven meetings versus the Bees, and four of Clinton's 13 home wins have come against Burlington.

Clinton led 2-0 early, thanks to four of their first five batters recording hits. Zach Shank doubled off the fence in left and Aaron Barbosa reached on a bunt single. During the play, Shank scored from second a throwing error by Burlington starter Harrison Cooney. After Jack Reinheimer struck out, Austin Wilson and Justin Seager both singled, the latter scoring Barbosa from third base.

Burlington - who entered the affair riding a three-game winning streak and sweep of Beloit - answered with solo shots in the third and fourth innings off of Clinton starter Jose Flores. The first blast was a two-out drive by Kody Eaves - his sixth - into the Lumber Lounge in right. The second homer was an Eric Aguilera solo shot leading off the fourth.

But that was it offensively for the Bees.

Flores lasted six innings and scattered seven hits, allowing just two earned runs. He handed over to Aaron Brooks (3-2) who escaped in the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Bees catcher Stephen McGee struck out but reached first safely on Brooks' wild pitch. Erick Salcedo sacrificed McGee to second and Eaves followed with a single into center. Barbosa charged on the play and threw a one-hop strike to Christian Carmichael who tagged out McGee on a bang-bang play at the plate. In the eighth, Bees left fielder Mike Fish hit a one-out double, but was stranded at third on consecutive groundouts to first.

Cooney, like Flores, lasted six innings and allowed two runs on seven hits as well. But his right-hander reliever Trevor Foss (2-5), unlike Brooks, couldn't escape damage in the eighth. The 24-year-old walked Martin Peguero leading off the frame and after two groundouts moved Barbosa to third, he walked Reinheimer.

That set up Wilson's heroics.

The All-Star snub continued his recent surge, lacing a two-run triple into the right-field corner. The triple was Wilson's third of the season, and his RBI total now sits at 45, tied for third in the Midwest League.

Emilio Pagan worked around a one-out walk in the ninth and nailed down his ninth save in ten opportunities. Pagan's save was his first since May 24th at Kane County.

Shank, Wilson, and Seager each recorded two hits apiece. Seager's 2-for-4 performance extended his hitting streak to a season- high 10 games.

Clinton continues their three-game series against the Burlington Bees Wednesday night at Ashford University Field. Right-hander Lars Huijer (2-4, 3.76) will start for Clinton and will be opposed by Bees right-hander Daniel Hurtado (0-0, 0.00). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM CT. The game can be heard on WCCI 100.3 FM, wcciradio.com, and lumberkings.com.
