Peoria, IL - The Peoria Chiefs push for the first-half Wild Card playoff berth will have to wait as their Tuesday night series opener against the Kane County Cougars was rained out. The two teams will attempt to play two seven-inning games on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. The Chiefs are chasing their first playoff berth since 2009.
The Chiefs are 33-30 and are one game behind current Wild Card leader Burlington with six games left in the first half. The Chiefs are tied in the Western Division standings with Quad Cities and one game ahead of Wisconsin. All three teams are in action Tuesday night.
Game one on Wednesday will feature Chiefs RHP Alex Reyes (3-5, 5.52) against Cougars RHP Tyler Skulina (4-2, 2.93). Game two will have Chiefs LHP Chase Brookshire (1-3, 6.21) against RHP Daury Torrez (5-3, 3.67). The three-game series will conclude Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday is Teacher Appreciation Night at Dozer Park with a Fireworks show and Humana Pitch-In For Charity after the double header. As part of the Dollar Dog Wins-Day presented by Eisenberg Hot Dogs, fans can enjoy $1 hot dogs, $1 ice cream sandwiches and $1 fountain sodas during the double header. Fans who had tickets for Tuesday's rain out can redeem them at the Dozer Park Box Office or by calling 309-680-4008.
Following the three-game series with Kane County, the Chiefs will conclude the first half of the season with a three-game series against the Clinton LumberKings. Game one is scheduled for Friday at 7:00 p.m., followed by game two on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and the first half ends on Sunday at 2:00p.m. at Dozer Park.
Tickets are available for all six home games, including the Saturday, June 14 Ozzie Smith appearance for IPMR and the Friday, June 13 Ozzie Smith Hall of Fame Bobblehead Giveaway.
