Lansing Lugnuts News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Amidst a steady rain at Parkview Field, a late rally fueled the Lansing Lugnuts (30-34) to a 7-4 win over the Fort Wayne TinCaps (28-36) on Tuesday night.

Fort Wayne fought back to tie the game twice late, but Lansing scored the final three runs to take the series opener.

After the TinCaps had tied the game in the bottom of the seventh against Scott Silverstein, left fielder Chaz Frank knocked an RBI single off of Tayron Guerrero (Loss, 6-1) in the eighth to put Lansing back on top.

Silverstein (Blown Save, 5)(Win, 5-2) finished 1 2/3 innings to pick up the save.

All-Star closer Griffin Murphy (Save, 9) finished the game off with two strikeouts in the ninth.

A two-run rally in the sixth by the TinCaps tied the game at 3-3, but Lansing first baseman Matt Dean worked a bases-loaded walk to put the Lugnuts ahead. Dean finished the night 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.

Lansing starter Jeremy Gabryszwski did not receive a decision after tossing 6.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with six strikeouts.

The Lugnuts and TinCaps play the second of the three-game set on Wednesday at Parkview Field. Right-hander Chase De Jong (0-4, 4.82) will pitch for Lansing, with Fort Wayne's Adrian De Horta (0-2, 5.04) starting on the mound.
