McGruder, Weiss Are Dragons Players of the Month for May

DAYTON, OHIO-Second baseman Jamodrick McGruder and right-handed relief pitcher Zack Weiss have been selected as the Dayton Dragons Batter and Pitcher of the Month for May.

The winning players will be honored during an inning break of the Dragons game tonight at Fifth Third Field vs. Bowling Green. There will also be a Player of the Month luncheon tomorrow, Wednesday, June 11th, at Chick-fil-A, 2360 N. Fairfield Road in Beavercreek (near Target; across from the Mall at Fairfield Commons) at 12:00 noon. Fans may attend to ask questions to the winning players and receive autographs. The players will be available to the media for interviews.

McGruder batted .304 in May with three doubles, three triples, one home run, 11 runs batted in, 16 runs scored, with a slugging percentage of .422 and an on-base percentage of .388 in 25 games.

Weiss posted a record of 1-0 in May with a 0.84 earned run average in four relief appearances. In 10.2 innings, he allowed 5 hits with 5 walks and 12 strikeouts.

Other nominees for the Dragons Batter of the Month for May were Sebastian Elizalde and Tanner Rahier. Other Pitcher of the Month nominees were Nick Travieso and Daniel Wright.

The Dragons host Bowling Green tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday at Fifth Third Field. All three games start at 7:00 p.m.
