Willmar's Win Streak Ends in Rough Fashion, Fall to St. Cloud 11-1

Willmar Stingers News Release
Fresh off their North Dakota road trip, the Stingers failed to keep their momentum going as they fell to the St. Cloud Rox 11-1 on Tuesday.
The Stingers bats failed to remain hot in the game as they didn't pick up a hit until the sixth inning when Scott Anderson finally ended the run.
Piercen McElyea was the big story of the game for St. Cloud as he still has yet to allow a run in his two starts this season.
McElyea was nothing short of dominant, tossing six shutout innings as he struck out six batters and allowed just the one hit to Anderson.
The offense had some equally stellar outings but the biggest one came from the cleanup hitter Jackson Hauge.
Hauge picked up a hit in each of his first four appearances with the big blow coming in the third inning where he launched a two-run home run well over the left field wall to break the game open and put the Rox up 4-0.
The three-run third inning would be one of two times they would reach that total in an inning.
That other inning was in the fifth where doubles from Ripken Reese and Brady Prewitt would help continue to put the game out of reach.
Even after McElyea went out, the Rox bullpen helped continue to keep the Stingers in check.
The lone offense for the Stingers came in the ninth inning where Sean Rimmer roped an infield single to score the first and only run of the night.
After scoring five or more runs in every game up to that point, the bats fell flat with an 11-1 loss over their in-state rival.
The Stingers host the Rox on Wednesday to close out their series before starting a home-and-home with the Mankato MoonDogs.
