Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Madison, WI - The Kenosha Kingfish dropped game two against the Madison Mallards 18-4 at Warner Park. The 14-run deficit was the largest so far this year for the boys in baby blue.
Not only did the Ducks put up 14 hits, but they drew 15 free passes off of Kenosha pitching as well.
With the defeat, Kenosha falls below .500 on the road with a 2-3 record.
Madison remains a perfect 3-0 on home grass after their victory.
Last night's walk-off hero, Lance Trippel (Florida St.), continued his offensive tear as the only Kingfish batter to register multiple hits. Trippel went 2-for-3 with a solo shot to left field in the sixth frame to make it back-to-back jacks with Reagan Burford (Ole Miss).
Ryan Sprock (Elon University) had a perfect night at the plate in his Mallards Debut. Sprock went 4-for-4 at the plate with a team-high five RBI, three runs scored and two walks.
State College of Florida-Saratosa's very own Cameron Clines (1-1) got the win on the bump after relinquishing four runs on two hits in a pair of innings. Clines was deemed the most effective reliever for Madison after Byrce Leedle (University of St. Thomas) threw four innings while giving up no runs on just one hit.
Louisiana Tech. University hurler Alec Sparks (0-1) took the loss in his first game in a Kenosha uniform. Sparks recorded one out while allowing four earned runs on one hit and five walks.
With the loss, the Kingfish (4-6) sit alone at fifth place in the Great Lakes East.
The Mallards (5-5) have now climbed into a tie for third place with the Lakeshore Chinooks in the Great Lakes West.
The Kingfish will play the games two and three of their road trip against the Kokomo Jackrabbits starting on June 8. First pitch from Kokomo Municipal Stadium will be at 6:05 PM CT.
