Wildcatters acquire Tormey from Trenton

January 24, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Texas Wildcatters News Release

Beaumont, TX (January 24, 2007) Texas Wildcatters Head Coach and Vice-President of Hockey Operations Malcolm Cameron announced that the team has acquired defenseman Peter Tormey from the Trenton Titans in exchange for Luis Tremblay.

Tormey, 26, has played the last two seasons with Trenton. In 34 games this season, he has a goal and three assists for four points and 20 penalty minutes with a plus seven rating. Last season, Tormey also played in five games in the AHL, splitting time between Cleveland and Bridgeport.

"Tormey is a big, strong stay at home defenseman who skates well and relishes his defensive role," said Cameron. "With all the offense we have in the back end, we felt we needed a good skating defensive defenseman who kills penalties and can clear the front of the net."

A native of Buzzards Bay, MA, Tormey attended the University of Massachusetts-Lowell where he played hockey for four years. He played in a total of 130 games, scoring 4 goals with 14 assists for 18 points.
