(Washington, PA) - The Florence Freedom (30-34), presented by Titan Mechanical Solutions, lost their first game all season when leading after seven innings as the Washington Wild Things (28-36) scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to win by a score of 4-3 Friday night.

Up 3-2 headed to the bottom of the ninth, closer Ed Kohout (3-2) got the first batter out. But he surrendered a single to Matt Ford and walked Matt Peters. David Popkins singled to left and Zac Mitchell threw out Ford trying to score for out number two. But Carter Bell doubled to tie the game and Andrew Heck delivered the walk-off single as Kohout blew his third save this season.

Florence managed only three hits in the loss while Washington tallied 11.

The Wild Things grabbed the lead in the third against Florence starter Tony Vocca. With one out Ford singled. Sam Mende got hit by a pitch and Popkins walked. With two away Heck singled home a run and Austin Wobrock followed with a RBI single of his own to make it 2-0.

Florence was held hitless by Washington's Ernie Zaragoza until the sixth. Daniel Fraga singled to start the frame. Mitchell drew a walk and one out later Sam Eberle singled to load the bases. Kyle Carter hit a game-tying double and Ozzy Gonzalez's RBI grounder put Florence up 3-2.

They did not get another man on base after the sixth. Meanwhile the Freedom bullpen managed to get out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam in the seventh. But they couldn't escape the Wild Things in the ninth as Florence moved to 23-1 when leading after 7 innings this season.

Florence looks to bounce back Saturday night as Patrick McGrath (0-1, 4.50 ERA) makes his second professional start. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. on http://mixlr.com/florencefreedom/.
