TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. -- The Lake Erie Crushers scored all five of their runs with two outs on Friday night, as they came from behind to defeat the Traverse City Beach Bums, 5-2 at Wuerfel Park.

The win for the Crushers (27-34) marked the fourth time that they've won a series opener since the All Star Break, while the loss for the Beach Bums (36-26) was their third in four game against the Crushers this season.

Jose Barraza drove in four of Lake Erie's five runs on the night, while Brad Zambron (3-4) turned in his finest performance of the season, and Trevor Longfellow (11) went two innings to get the save, and pitched the Crushers out of a big jam in the eighth.

Early on, the Crushers had several chances to score, but left a lot of runners in scoring position. They left runners at first and third in the first inning, stranded runners at second and third in the third inning, made the final out at the plate in the fourth, before stranding runners at the corners again in the fifth.

Traverse City fired the first shot, scoring the game's first run with two outs in the bottom of the third. Jeff DeBlieux stroked a two-out RBI single to left, to give the Beach Bums an early 1-0 lead.

The lead held, until the Lake Erie offense caught fire with two down in the top of the seventh. They had a runner on first with two outs, when Barraza belted a two-run homer to right, his third of the season, and second in as many days to give Lake Erie a 2-1 lead. Anderson Hidalgo followed with a double off the wall in center, and scored moments later on Juan Sanchez's RBI base hit to left center.

Lake Erie added two more runs with two down in the top of the eighth. Emmanuel Quiles reached on an error to start the inning, before back-to-back two out walks were issued to Austin Prott and Chandler Brock to load the bases for Barraza. Barraza struck again with a two-run single down the line in left to give Lake Erie a 5-1 lead.

The Beach Bums had an opportunity to come back in the eighth inning, but Longfellow diffused that bomb. DeBlieux reached on a walk to start the inning, and singles from Alex Tomasovich and Jose Vargas followed, as DeBlieux scored on Vargas's RBI single. Lake Erie called on Longfellow after the Vargas base hit, and Longfellow retired the next three batters in succession, before working a scoreless ninth to get the save.

Zambron turned in a terrific start, going 6.1 innings, and allowed just a run on six hits while fanning five in a winning effort, while Longfellow worked two scoreless innings get the save. Kramer Champlin (5-6) took the loss, after allowing three runs on seven hits over 6.2 innings of work.

Every Crusher reached safely at least once on the night, while Barraza led the way, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs on the night, and he drove in 23 runs throughout the month of July. Prott reached twice on the night, and extended his on base streak to 29 games in the process. Hidalgo and Boo Vazquez also added a pair of hits each.

The Crushers will continue their three game series with the Traverse City Beach Bums at Wuerfel Park on Saturday night. Right-hander Hunter Adkins (3-4, 2.57) will start for the Crushers, and lefty Ian MacDougall (7-4, 2.35) will start for the Beach Bums. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
