Aviators Hit Comeback Trail, Best CornBelters

LOVES PARK - The Rockford Aviators notched their second comeback win in as many nights Friday, coming back from a 3-0 deficit to down the CornBelters 6-5. Kyle Brueggemann started for the Aves and got his 6th victory of the year by pitching into the 7th.

The CornBelters got out to an early lead in the 3rd on an RBI base hit by CF Mark Micowski and tacked on 2 more in the 5th on a 2-out, 2-RBI single by DH Sam Judah. But their 3-run lead would not last long.

Michael Hur doubled with 1 out in the bottom of the 5th and came home 2 batters later on an RBI single to right by Devon Rodriguez. Danny Stienstra and Dusty Robinson would each reach, and Rodriguez would come in on a pitch that got by Normal catcher Jim Vahalik. Cody Lenahan then gave the Aves their first lead by blasting a 2-out, 2-RBI triple to left center.

The Aviators once again rallied with 2 outs in the 6th, getting a single from Hur, an RBI triple from Brian Bistagne and another RBI single from Devon Rodriguez.

The CornBelters would rally for 1 in the 7th and 1 in the 8th, but Patrick Dolan kept them off the board in the ninth to get his 3rd save of the season.

With the 2 RBI, Rodriguez now has 6 runs driven in over the last 2 contests. The Aviators finished with 10 total hits, with 6 of them going for extra bases. 8 of the 9 men in the order reached vs. the CornBelters.

The two sides meet again tomorrow at Aviators Stadium. Kyle Hassna is slated to start for the Aviators. First pitch will fly at 7:05 pm.
