West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

The West Michigan Whitecaps, Midwest League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, announce the following changes to their roster:

- Added OF Riley Greene from Connecticut. He will wear #23.

- Assigned OF Ulrich Bojarski to Lakeland.

Greene becomes the first Whitecaps player to join the roster who was born after the turn of the millennium, holding a birthdate of September 28, 2000. The Detroit Tigers selected Greene with the fifth overall pick of the 2019 MLB Draft out of Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Florida. Greene dominated the Gulf Coast League by hitting .351 with a .442 on-base percentage. Greene has already been named one of the Top-50 prospects in Major League Baseball, being named MLB's #49 prospect by MLB Pipeline. The 18-year-old continued to hold his own in short-season Connecticut, hitting .295 (.380 OBP) with a home run and seven RBI in 24 games.

It is expected that Greene will be in the starting lineup for Whitecaps on Thursday night against the Bowling Green Hot Rods. A potential media availability will be coordinated prior to Thursday's game, with an expected opportunity to meet with the Tigers #3 prospect after Whitecaps Batting Practice.

The Whitecaps roster currently stands at 25 active players, plus one inactive player with two on the restricted list.
