Wheeling Nailers News Release

The Wheeling Nailers are off to the best start in the history of the organization and one of the best starts ever in the ECHL. Their 6-0-4 mark gives them a 10 game streak of regulation-unbeaten games to begin the season and puts them within reach of the all-time league record 14-game streak by the Louisiana IceGators in 2001-02.

Wheeling's 10 game streak is tied for the second longest in league history with 2 other teams. The Dayton Bombers in 1994-95 and the Richmond Renegades also in 1994-95 both started the season 9-0-1. The Nailers are only the 4th team in league history to go the first 10 games of the season without a regulation loss and are the first team to do it since 2001-02.

Wheeling's 16 points through their first 10 games are also a team record breaking the old mark of 15 points in 2003-04 when the Nailers started 7-2-1 and went on to win the division while setting team records for wins, points and fewest goals allowed.

Wheeling remains the only team in the ECHL without a loss in regulation while every other team in the league has at least two.

The Nailers are also the winningest organization in ECHL history with 694 all-time victories and are looking to become the first ECHL team ever to reach the 700 win milestone.

The Nailers look to extend their unbeaten streak this weekend when they host the Dayton Bombers Friday night and travel to the Elmira Jackals Saturday night.
