Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers announced today that the National Hockey League's Florida Panthers have recalled goaltender David Shantz to the "AAA" American Hockey League's Rochester Americans. In a separate transaction, the Panthers assigned goalie Tyler Plante to the Bombers.

Shantz has gone 4-2-0-1 for Dayton with a 2.35 goals against average and .914 save percentage. He earned a 1-0 shutout on October 24 against the Johnstown Chiefs, saving 23 shots that he faced. Shantz, a 2nd round (#37 overall) draft pick of the Panthers in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, has won his last two starts, averaging just 1.50 goals against.

Plante, a 21-year-old Milwaukee, Wisconsin native, joins the Bombers after starting the season with the Rochester Americans. A second round (#32 overall) draft selection of the Panthers in 2005, Plante split time last season between the Americans and the Florida Everblades. He previously spent four seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL, where he was named Rookie of the Year in 2004.
