
Condors Squeeze By Wranglers 2-1

Bakersfield, CA - The Las Vegas Wranglers® (4-5-1, 9 points) were defeated by the Bakersfield Condors (3-4-1, 7 points) 2-1 at Rabobank Arena on Monday night. Condors' forwards Dave Bonk and Matt Pope each scored five-on-three power play goals to lift Bakersfield over Las Vegas. Bakersfield goalie Dave McKee stopped 34 Wranglers' shots to snap the Condors' four-game losing streak. Las Vegas goalie Brent Krahn stopped 32 Condors shots in the loss. Wranglers' forward Adam Miller scored the team's lone goal. Las Vegas remains winless on the road this year at 0-4-1. Las Vegas will return home to host Idaho on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM.
In the first period, Las Vegas struggled to stay out of the penalty box, taking six minor penalties in the first twelve minutes. The Condors scored off a five-on-three power play at 7:09. Center Dave Bonk scored his second goal of the season off a rebound from a Mark Derlago. Las Vegas goalie Brent Krahn made the intial save. The Condors outshot Las Vegas 18-6 in the opening period, largely due to six first-period power plays.
In the second period, Las Vegas countered to tie the game 1-1. Gerard Miller and Peter Ferraro worked the puck into the Condors' zone. Ferraro spotted Adam Miller alone in front of the Bakersfield net. Miller scored his first of the season, beating Dave McKee at 9:34 of the period. The Condors regained the lead at 2-1 with their second five-on-three power play goal of the night. Bonk found Matt Pope on the back-door feed for the winger's sixth goal of the season at 13:19.
Las Vegas will play in Bakersfield on Monday at 7:00 PM. The Wranglers return home to host Idaho on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM. The first 2,000 fans to the game on Friday night receive a fake mustaches sponsored by Studio Blue. The Wranglers will also wear light blue helmets, which will be auctioned off for Prostate Cancer Awareness.
