Condors gut out 2-1 triumph over Vegas

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - G Dave McKee made 34 saves to lead the Bakersfield Condors to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers before of 4,955 fans at Rabobank Arena on Monday night.

The Condors (3-6-1, 7pts) came out aggressive from the drop of the puck. They pelted Wranglers G Brent Krahn with 18 first period shots, and drew first blood on the scoreboard. C Dave Bonk potted his second goal of the season, on the power play at 7:09. The penalty-filled frame included 10 total power plays, and Bakersfield held the lead.

Las Vegas (4-5-1, 9pts) tied the game at 9:34 of the middle frame, with a goal by C Adam Miller. Bakersfield went back on the power play and connected to regain the lead. F Matt Pope notched his sixth of the season to tie for the team lead, banking a centering feed off a Vegas defender for the go-ahead tally at 13:19.

The third period was a battle, with McKee standing tall through the end. Vegas pounded 17 shots on goal in the final stanza, and the Bakersfield netminder turned them all aside. He finished the night with 34 saves and the Condors penalty kill was perfect on 11 Wranglers power plays.

Notes from the Nest

The Condors embark on a five-game road swing, starting Friday night at Ontario. Game time is 7 p.m. They return home to host the Phoenix RoadRunners on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. That night, the Oakland Raiderettes come to town, sponsored by KGET-TV 17, 98.5 The Fox and Cal Water. They will perform during the intermissions, sign autographs and pose for pictures in the Condors Photo Booth throughout the night.

Individual game tickets are on sale and may be purchased through the Rabobank Arena Box Office, which is open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday with extended hours on game days.
