Blades Khudobin named ECHL Goalie of the Week

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades proudly announced today that the ECHL has named Everblades goalie Anton Khudobin the ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Nov. 3- Nov. 9.

Khudobin finished off the week with a 2-0-0 record and a 0.50 goals against average in his two starts, both against the Gwinnett Gladiators. On Nov. 7 Khudobin turned away 37 of 38 Gwinnett shots in a 3-1 Florida victory. The 22-year-old native of Kazakhstan then pushed his personal winning streak and the team's winning streak to four by recording his sixth career shutout on Nov. 8 when he stopped all 38 shots in the Everblades' 4-0 win over the Gladiators.

The wins improved Khudobin to 4-1-0 on the season with a 1.80 GAA and a .942 save percentage in five starts. His GAA ranks fourth best in the ECHL. Over his last four starts Khudobin is 4-0-0 with a goals-against average of 1.50 and a save percentage of .956.

Khudobin split the 2007-08 season between the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL and the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League. He compiled a record of 20-1-4 with a 1.98 goals against average in 27 games. His efforts with Texas last season earned him a spot on the 2008 American Conference All-Star team and the honor of being named the ECHL Goaltender of the Year.

While in Houston Khudobin appeared in 12 games with the Aeros although was the goalie of record in only five of those games going 2-2-1 with a 1.99 GAA. A former 7th round draft pick by the Wild in 2004, Khudobin has also played at the top level with Metallurg Magnitogorsk of the Russia Super League.
