Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, NY- For the fifth time this season the Elmira Jackals would need more than 60 minutes of hockey to decide a winner. Unfortunately the Jackals would leave First Arena tonight with only one point as they fell to the Reading Royals 3-2 in a shootout.

The scoring got started at the 4:52 mark of the first period when Josh Aspenlind found the back of the net. Pierre-Luc Faubert and Kaleb Betts assisted on Aspenlind's seventh point of the season. The Jackals took a 2-0 advantage at the 3:34 mark of the second period on a power play goal from Tyler Donati. Donati extends his point total to 16 on his fifth goal of the year that was assisted by Chris St. Croix and Steve Yetman.

With the Jackals up two to zero, the Royals would find an answer to Jackals goalie Michael Teslak who was equal to 20 shots through two periods of play . Jeff Curly scored at the 12:42 mark of the second and Ned Lukacevic netted his third goal of the year at the 16:12 mark of the second to even the score at 2-2.

The third period was a back and fourth, hard hitting affair that featured a 10-9 shot battle in favor of the Jackals. Again neither team could crack the hot goaltending. After 60 minutes of action we would go to a four on four, five minute sudden death overtime. Another exciting five minutes of action wouldn't be enough to settle the score, so again we would see superb goaltending in a shootout.

Readings first shooter, Ned Lukacevic, beat Teslak for the loan goal and game winner in the shootout. The Jackals threw all sorts of fire power the way of reading keeper Danny Taylor but again were denied. Final shots on goal were 38-30 in favor of the Jackals.

UP NEXT: The Jackals host the Cincinnati Cyclones on Friday, November 14th at 7:35 p.m. and the Wheeling Nailers on Saturday, November 15th at 7:35 p.m. Get your tickets now by calling 734-PUCK.
