Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Calgary, AB. - The Brandon Wheat Kings return home Monday after collecting three of a possible six points during a 3-game in three night Western Hockey League road trip.
Following an overtime loss in Edmonton on Friday and a blowout defeat the following night in Red Deer, the Wheat Kings showed great poise and determination Sunday afternoon in scoring a 4-1 victory over the Hitmen in Calgary.
Nolan Patrick scored twice while Jordan Papirny turned aside 39 shots in the Brandon net as the Wheat Kings improved to 24-12-2-2 to pull back into a 3-way tie for second place in the Eastern Conference with Red Deer and Calgary.
Stelio Mattheos and Tyler Coulter, who had his career high 11-game point scoring streak snapped on Saturday night in Red Deer, rounded out the scoring for the Wheat Kings, who remain two points up on second place Prince Albert in the Eastern Division.
The Wheat Kings don't play again until Friday night when they play host to the Raiders in the first of two at Westman Place this weekend. Swift Current visits on Sunday.
Tickets to both games are on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com.
