Cougars' Witala Named WHL Player of the Month

Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League announced today that Prince George Cougars forward Chase Witala is the WHL Player of the Month for December 2015.

Witala, a 20-year-old from Prince George, BC, amassed 23 points (14g-9a) to go along with a plus-10 rating in 13 games played during the month of December. Witala recorded multiple-point outings on six occasions, including two instances in which he collected at least four points to help lift the Cougars to an impressive record of 10-3-0-0 for the month of December.

Witala's performance in December saw him collect three first star honours, one second star selection and three third star nods. The forward's efforts during December have helped Prince George climb into third place in the B.C. Division standings heading into the second half of the season.

The 6-0, 170 lb forward sits second in Club scoring with 42 points (24g-18) in 39 games played and ranks first in team power play goals with seven. Witala is in his fifth WHL season with the Cougars and has tallied 202 points (104g-98a) in 270 career regular season contests.

Witala's accomplishments make him a deserving choice as the WHL Player of the Month for December.
