February 19, 2016 - NBA G League (G League)
Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS - The Westchester Knicks (19-15), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, defeated the Iowa Energy (14-18) at the Westchester County Center tonight, the final score 108-95.
The scoring brigade began quickly, with Westchester striking first and holding onto the lead for the entirety of the quarter. The Energy came close, tying it up twice, but eleven points from Westchester guard Jimmer Fredette, on top of each of his fellow starters contributing buckets, helped to keep the Knicks ahead.
Westchester showed resiliency during the second quarter as they were able to respond each time the Energy started to get close. After Iowa cut the lead to two with just under five minutes left, the Knicks used a 16-9 run over the next four minutes to push their lead back to nine. The Knicks' lead was cut to four as the Energy closed out the quarter on a 5-0 run to make the score at halftime 60-56.
The third quarter was all Knicks basketball as Westchester held the visitors to just 16 points. Knicks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo plowed through the quarter with 13 of Westchester's 30 points, going 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. Outrebounding the Energy 14-7, the Knicks headed into the final quarter with a hefty 18-point lead.
Westchester went up by as many as 21 points in the fourth, though neither team had an amazing quarter. The Energy managed to outscore the Knicks 23-18 in the final twelve minutes but the damage had already been set as Westchester took the game 108-95.
Thanasis Antetokounmpo poured in a season-high 29 points, highlighted by a career-high 5-of-10 buckets from downtown. Jimmer Fredette finished a solid night with 24 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Jordan Bachynski and Damien Inglis rounded out the double-digit scoring for the Knicks with 10 points each.
Andrew Harrison paced the Energy with 23 points, four assists and three rebounds. Patrick Christopher contributed 21, Terry Whisnant 15, while Traevon Jackson rounded out the double-digits scorers with 13.
The Westchester Knicks and Iowa Energy will face-off once again on Sunday, Feb. 21 at the Westchester County Center at 1:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on MSG Network and on the NBA Development League's YouTube channel.
