West Virginia Tops Legends 6-1

(CHARLESON, W. Va.) Francisco Diaz had three hits and a run batted in to lead West Virginia to a 6-1 win over the Lexington Legends Saturday night.

Frank Schwindel's home run in the first inning put the Legends in front 1-0, but they were shut out the rest of the way by Felipe Lopez, who worked the first six innings, and relievers Clario Perez and Andy Otamendi.

The Power tied the game in the bottom of the third when Francisco Diaz doubled, moved to third on a sacrifice by Chris Diaz and scored on a single by Michael Fransoso. They took the lead in the fourth on a single by Reese McGuire, a stolen base, and a double by Erich Weiss.

West Virginia added three runs in the sixth. Weiss tripled and scored on a single by Francisco Diaz, who then came home on a double by Chris Diaz. Diaz went to third on an errant pickoff throw and came home on Fransoso's sacrifice fly. The Power added their final run in the eighth.

Lopez (2-3) got the win. Legends starter Alec Mills (1-1)was the losing pitcher.

The Legends have won two of three in the series, which concludes Sunday. Game time is 2:05 p.m.
