KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Augusta GreenJackets used a 3-run fourth inning to take the lead for good in a 5-2 win over the Kannapolis Intimidators on Saturday night in front of 3,940 fans at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. Kannapolis (51-58, 22-20 Second Half) has dropped two straight games and will play for a series split in Sunday's finale against Augusta.

Intimidators reliever Tyler Barnette matched his career-high with seven strikeouts over 4 and 1/3 innings out of the pen. The former Charlotte 49ers hurler took over with two outs in the fourth inning and gave up one run on two hits while walking two.

Tyler Ross put Augusta on the board first with a 2-out home run (5) in the first inning, but Trey Michalczewski pulled Kannapolis ahead in the bottom of the third with a 2-out, 2-run double to the gap in left-centerfield.

The GreenJackets didn't stay behind for long, using three doubles in the top of the fourth for a 3-run frame to jump back in front, 4-2. Craig Massoni doubled to score Rafael Rodriguez, and Will Callaway followed with a double to trade places with Massoni, putting Augusta in front, 3-2. Chris Lofton next added an RBI-single to chase Kannapolis starter Jeff McKenzie from the game.

McKenzie (2-3) worked 3 and 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on six hits with three strikeouts and two walks in the loss.

Augusta starter Robert Ramer (2-2) earned the win, working 6.0 innings and allowing two runs on five hits while walking four and striking out four. Three GreenJackets relievers - Raymundo Montero, Luis Castillo, and Daniel Slania - each threw a scoreless inning out of the bullpen. Slania recorded the save (12).
