Catcher Dowdy Promoted to Double-A Birmingham

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (August 2, 2014) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted catcher Jeremy Dowdy to the Double-A Birmingham Barons and received catcher Zach Fisher from the Advanced Rookie Great Falls Voyagers today. Dowdy, who has spent his season platooning at catcher with the Intimidators, hit .295 (49-166) with a home run and 19 RBI in 44 games behind the plate in the South Atlantic League. This is his second career promotion to Birmingham after spending one game with the Barons during the 2013 season.

Fisher, 22, is batting .338 (44-130) with four home runs and 35 RBI in 32 games with the Voyagers. He ranks tied for fourth in the Pioneer League in RBI and tied for eighth in batting average. Last season with Kannapolis, he hit .268 (19-71) with a home run and 10 RBI in 20 games from April 6 to May 17 before transferring to Extended Spring Training and spending the rest of his season with the Voyagers, batting .302 with six home runs and 32 RBI in 42 games in the Pioneer League. The White Sox selected Fisher in the 27th round of the June 2012 draft.

The Kannapolis Intimidators are in the 20th season of professional baseball in Kannapolis and the team's 14th as the Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. Since the team moved to Kannapolis in 1995, a total of 79 players that have played in Kannapolis have gone on to the Major Leagues.
