(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) The West Virginia Power scored five runs in the fourth inning and went on to a 6-2 win over the Lexington Legends Thursday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Legends' starter Juri Perez blanked the Power on one hit through three innings, but West Virginia broke through in the fourth. Mel Rojas singled to begin the inning, and then advanced to second on a passed ball. After Dan Grovatt struck out, Matt Curry walked. Justin Howard singled home Rojas, and Rogelio Noris scored Curry with another single. Elias Diaz capped the inning by lining a three-run homer into the left field bleachers, giving the Power a 5-0 margin.

The Legends scored twice in the eighth, but left the bases loaded. With one out, Delino DeShields Jr. doubled to right field. After Enrique Hernandez flied out, Adam Bailey was hit by a pitch. Jason Townsend then relieved Power starter Brandon Cumpton, and hit Chris Wallace with a pitch to load the bases. Mike Kvasnicka lined a base hit to center, scoring DeShields. Daniel Adamson's grounder to short was bobbled by Drew Maggi for an error, allowing Adamson to reach first as Bailey scored the second run. Townsend retired Tyler Burnett on a grounder to first to end the inning. West Virginia added a run in the ninth on Mel Rojas' RBI single. Townsend set down the Legends in order in the ninth to seal the win.

Cumpton (4-3), who held the Legends to just two runs over seven and two-thirds innings, got the win. Perez (0-1) was tagged with the loss in his Legends debut. The Legends will travel to Asheville for a four-game series with the Tourists, beginning Friday night at 7:05 p.m. EST.
