Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Augusta, GA - Drew Hedman's two-out, solo home run in the 11th inning handed the Greenville Drive a 6-5 win over the Augusta GreenJackets in front of 3,943 at Lake Olmstead Stadium on Thursday night. The Drive took two of three from the GreenJackets, who fell to 1-9 in series finale games this season.

Hedman's home run, his third of the year off Stephen Harrold (4-2) in the 11th, snapped an impressive string put forth by five GreenJackets pitchers. After Miles Head's three-run home run off Seth Rosin in the third, Augusta pitching combined to retire 26 of the next 28 Greenville hitters, including 20 in a row. Rosin retired the next three after surrendering the blast that made it a 5-1 game. Gaspar Santiago followed, striking out two in two perfect innings. Jacob Dunnington struck out five in three perfect innings to follow that while Drew Bowlin put on the only two runners in that stretch - both on errors - in two scoreless innings.

The Drive jumped out to an early lead in the second, loading the bases off Rosin on two hits and a hit batsman. With one out, a fielding error by Adam Duvall brought home two unearned runs to give the Drive a 2-0 lead. Rafael Rodriguez singled home a run in the bottom of the second to cut the lead in half, but Greenville put two on to lead off the third on a single and another Duvall error to set up Head's three-run bomb.

Augusta began to climb back into the game on solo home runs, as Raynor Campbell and Duvall both took Greenville starter Manny Rivera deep on solo shots in the third to make it a 5-3 game. In the fourth, Ryan Scoma's third home run of the year - a solo shot to lead off the frame - made it a one-run game. The GreenJackets tied the game at five in the fifth on Drew Biery's RBI single that plated Ehire Adrianza, who doubled to open the frame.

The GreenJackets had their chances from the fourth inning on, stranding eight runners in that time - six of which were left on in scoring position. But the game remained tied until the 11th when the Hedman home run became the eventual game-winner as Augusta dropped to 3-3 in extra innings this season.

Charlie Rosario (1-0) fired two scoreless innings of one-hit ball out of the Greenville bullpen to get the win, striking out four. Michael Gleason walked one but retired three of the four hitters he faced in the 11th inning to get his second save of the year and second in as many nights.

The GreenJackets open a four-game series on the road in Charleston on Friday against the RiverDogs, with Austin Fleet (4-3, 3.67) getting the ball against Charleston lefty Nik Turley (2-3, 3.18). First pitch comes at 7:05 with pregame coverage beginning at 6:50 on WRDW-AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com .

The GreenJackets return home to open a four-game series with the Savannah Sand Gnats on Wednesday May 25th as they close in on their one-millionth fan under Ripken Baseball ownership. That lucky fan will win a trip for four to Disneyworld, courtesy of Augusta Vascular Center. First pitch will come at 7:05 next Wednesday.

Single-game and Season Tickets are currently available by calling the GreenJackets front office at 706-922-WINS while further information can be found online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com .
