Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs have joined Minor League Baseball Charities and the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues on a fundraising campaign to aid the relief efforts for at least three of the Minor League Baseball communities hardest hit by recent tornado and flooding damage in Huntsville, Birmingham and Memphis.

The Class A affiliate of the New York Yankees has pledged to participate in "15 for 15" in which the club will donate 15 percent of all on-line merchandise revenue for 15 days (May 16-30). That money will be donated to MiLB Charities which will be distributed for relief efforts.

"We feel for those who suffered drastic losses and extensive damage done by the recent tornadoes that hit the Southeast," said General Manager Dave Echols. "Part of our mission with the RiverDogs is to care for our community and, in this sense, we're expanding our boundaries."

Minor League Baseball Charities is a tax exempt, 501(c)(3) charitable organization affiliated with the NA, and donations qualify as tax deductible. MiLB Charities will tally the total and distribute like amounts to designated cities as donations will go to the cities and not the clubs in those cities affected.

A banner ad identifying the "15 for 15" contribution program will be placed on each participating store site to alert fans to the positive impact of their purchase. It also serves as a link for fans interested in making a direct contribution to the relief efforts.
