(Hagerstown, MD) West Virginia defeated Hagerstown 7-6 in 12 innings on Saturday night at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown. The Power twice relinquished a two-run lead late in the game and almost lost another two-run lead in the 12th to earn their 20th victory of the season.

Hagerstown struck first against Power starter Colten Brewer in the first inning. With one out, Dale Carey hit a single to left, advanced to third on a Raudy Read double and scored when Jose Marmolejos hit a single up the middle.

The Power evened up the game thanks to a six-batter fourth. With one out, Taylor Gushue hit a double down the line in right and went to third on a single by Michael Suchy. With runners on the corners, Elvis Escobar brought home Gushue with an RBI base knock to left.

In the sixth inning, Suchy gave West Virginia the lead. Jordan Luplow reached on a fielding error to start off the inning. Gushue followed with a sacrifice bunt to put Luplow on second and he advanced to third on a wild pitch. Suchy then laced an RBI double to left field to bring home Luplow.

West Virginia scored another run in the seventh. Tyler Filliben was hit by a pitch to start the inning and the Power brought him home without the benefit of a hit. Tito Polo laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Filliben to second. Cole Tucker then grounded out to the right side advancing Filliben to third. Filliben then scored on a wild pitch to give the Power a 3-1 lead.

In the eighth the Suns tied the game. Luplow dropped a pop fly to put Cody Dent on base. Dent scored with two outs when Carey clubbed a two-run shot to center field to make it 3-3.

In the ninth inning West Virginia reclaimed the lead. Escobar led off the inning with a single and reached second when Chase Simpson drew a walk. Both men advanced a bag on a sacrifice bunt. Escobar then scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch and Simpson crossed home on a Polo RBI double.

Hagerstown responded with two in the ninth to tie it up again and force the game into extras.

West Virginia scored two in the 12th to take a 7-5 lead. Tucker led off the inning with a single and scored two batters later when Kawika Emsley-Pai hit a double to left. Emsley-Pai crossed home moments later when Gushue hit a double to right.

In the bottom of the 12th, West Virginia survived another rally by Hagerstown. The Suns made it a one-run game when Brennan Middleton hit an RBI single and had the winning runs on base, but Sam Street induced a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.

Street (2-0) earned the win with three innings in relief while David Napoli (2-1) took the loss. Power starter Colten Brewer tossed five innings and allowed one run on four hits with one walk and a strikeout. Dovydas Neverauskas tossed four innings of relief of Brewer and surrendered four runs (one earned) on three hits with two strikeouts.
